DAN AND VENETTE HILL – FOUNDERS
Dan and Venette Hill have over 20 years of experience working with parrots. In residence, the Hill’s shared day-to-day management and operations of The Sanctuary. Dedicated to the health and safety of the birds, as well as advocating for the responsible ownership of pet parrots, the Hills have traveled to schools and community events providing education and outreach about the unique nature of parrots. Ahead of their time, they created a unique home environment where unwanted and abandoned parrots have a second chance.
VANESSA ADAMS – DIRECTOR OF EVENTS/FUNDRAISING
Vanessa brings new ideas and enthusiasm to The Sanctuary. She has Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, is a self-trained fine arts artist, and is a District Visual for a large furniture retailer. She was previously in charge of events and fundraising and is now in the role as President. Vanessa is tasked with initiating and building relationships within the community to further our mission. Eager to generate activities that foster compassion for all animals, especially our birds, Vanessa wants to create an atmosphere of fun – determined to attract those who want to share their time, talent and treasures. She is determined to bring education to our community, create opportunities, grow our organization, and enable the TLS team to fulfill their goals for our mission.
JOHN KIM – DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
John’s experience and involvement in animal related causes has helped our Sanctuary’s reach. With over 15 years of animal husbandry experience, largely in the aquarium and reptile industry, his responsibilities at the Sanctuary include maintaining The Sanctuary property and the overall well-being of the birds. He provides continuity in identifying facility issues reporting directly to the Board. John’s volunteer service includes Adoptions Chair and board member of the California Turtle and Tortoise Club – Orange County Chapter; and Adoptions co-chair of California Turtle and Tortoise Care Society. Obvious animal lovers, John and his wife foster 30 turtles and tortoises and personally rehomed six birds.
EMILY PREDMORE – VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
With over 750 volunteer Sanctuary hours over the past two years, Emily dedicates three days a week working shifts helping care for the birds. As a Board member, she is responsible for recruitment and training of new volunteers, as well as the management and scheduling of forty active Sanctuary volunteers. An animal-lover with high enthusiasm, strong leadership, productivity, and people-skills, Emily is a team-lead at IKEA.
